Our principles

Trust must be explainable.

These principles guide how PIVERS presents product information, uses AI and supports responsible action.

01Evidence over assumption

Each result should identify what was checked, where the information came from and what it does not establish. A match is never presented as more than it is.

02Clear limits

An unknown code, a sample-based test and an individual-item check are different kinds of information. We make the difference visible rather than implying certainty.

03Warnings come first

When a recall or other notice applies, it is shown before any positive information, including when the code matches a genuine record.

04Independence and fairness

Payment, sponsorship, partnership or programme participation never changes a result, a notice, an investigation or the order in which records appear.

05Human accountability

AI assists and rules decide. Consequential decisions, such as publishing a notice, changing a code’s status or closing a case, are made by authorised people with a recorded reason.

06Privacy by design

Public checks need no account. Reporter identities and private evidence are visible only to people whose role requires it, and are never published.

07Correction and accountability

Records change through reviewable, recorded actions. Our audit history is append-only and tamper-evident, and people can appeal decisions that affect them.

08No unsupported verdicts

PIVERS never calls a product genuine, fake, safe or dangerous without the evidence to support it. It is not a regulator and does not act as one.

Confidence starts with clarity

Make a more informed choice.

Check a product code, read any notices that apply, and know the next step if something looks wrong.
